UBAN stands for National Bank Account Number. It is the 28-character account number format used for domestic transfers within Northern Cyprus. A UBAN begins with CT and includes check digits, a bank code, a reserve field, a branch code and a 16-character account number.

CT identifies the Northern Cyprus UBAN format. The next two digits are checksum digits. They are followed by a three-digit bank code, a reserve field currently set to 0, a four-digit branch code and a 16-character account number.
The checker recognises the bank code against the Northern Cyprus Central Bank's directory of registered banks, when a valid UBAN matches one.
