Corrections

When we publish a bank detail that turns out to be wrong, we do not quietly edit it. The correction is recorded here with the BIC it affected, so you can tell whether it touched something you looked up. How we source and check the data in the first place is described on the methodology page; product changes live in the changelog.

Entries before September 2026 are reconstructed from our own change log, so where the record does not say when a wrong value first went live, the date given is the day we found it. Where a whole national table was rewritten at once, the entry says how much it covered rather than listing every row.

    Four Norwegian pages claimed a routing code that had moved to another bank

    Each bank was absorbed or merged, and its old code was reissued, but the rows kept claiming it. Sbanken and Nordnet still trade and simply hold no routing code any more; SpareBank 1 BV is gone into SpareBank 1 Sør-Norge; Sparebanken Sør merged into Sparebanken Norge and had two pages between them.

    Finland's bank code is one to four digits, by a rule its register states outright, and we were taking a fixed three. The table held three-digit stand-ins such as 123 for Nordea, so only the handful of prefixes someone had written down ever resolved. Nordea's code is 1, OP's is 5, Ålandsbanken's is 6.
